- What makes mathZwise tuition so effective?
- There are many reasons why mathZwise Centres stand out.
Firstly, the programme is the only one in New Zealand based on the NZ curriculum so you know your child is working on the same things they are at school.
Our ratio of no more than 2 students per teacher means each child gets lots of individual attention. This is done in a positive and fun learning environment.
The individual programme is designed to meet your child's identified needs so that, as well as learning new things, their existing skills are further developed.

- Do you give homework? How much?
- No. (Unless parents specifically ask for it) Remember, most students already have plenty of homework from school! We don't want to put students off by adding to what is often an already heavy homework load.

- Can my child bring their homework along for assistance?
- We will happily assist children with similar examples to their homework to enable to give them the confidence to complete their homework at home. There are occasions where students are set tasks beyond their current ability, under these circumstances we will advise you so you can deal with the situation appropriately.

- What if my child misses a lesson?
- We will try to give a makeup lesson. All of our centres currently have a waiting list so this can be difficult to do.

- Can mathZwise help a Child already doing well at school?
- Without a doubt and we are there to help these children do just that. We have many students enrolled in our programmes who are already excelling at school.
The mathZwise programme is just as effective at extending and enhancing the abilities of high achievers as it is in lifting the performance of students who need to catch up.

- How did mathZwise begin?
- mathZwise began in 2003 when Kathy Redwood, a qualified, registered teacher and former principal, saw an opportunity to use her
considerable skills annd knowledge to enhance individual students' performance in Maths. She began tutoring students who needed extra help to get ahead in their studies.
Kathy developed NZ curriculum based maths programmes including aspects of the Numeracy Project, organised into textbooks, activity sheets,
booklets and fun games and resources, so children remain interested and motivated.

- How do the Individualised programmes work?
- One of the reasons the mathZwise approach is so effective is that each student works on an individualised programme,
tailored to their particular needs, within a small group setting. Each student's lesson is personally prepared by hand by their tutor
based on the student's work from the previous week.
An immediate benefit of the group is that, at the outset, each child appreciates that they are not alone in their need for extra support and tutoring.
This is a great confidence-builder for children, especially for those who have begun to feel isolated in their struggle to understand a certain topic.
In these groups, in which there could be up to four students, children are encouraged to ask for help.
Each lesson lasts for 60 minutes, during which time students are fully occupied with a tutor.
They complete a variety of tasks including written work, book work and, maths based games and problem solving. All materials are provided.
